Acne is the most common skin problem, affecting not only teenagers during puberty, but also people in their 20’s and 30’s. This stubborn condition is typically treated with oral and topical medications, which can produce good results but often with undesirable side effects.
IPL is an effective alternative treatment for the acne. The light emitted from the lamp attacks acne in two ways. Firstly the acne bacteria are destroyed for the quick clearance of current acne breakouts.
Secondly the light penetrates into the hyperactive sebaceous glands to slow down the production of sebum, which can clog pores and cause future acne breakouts. With IPL it is possible to treat inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne.
Your face can be treated in 20 minutes. After treatment you may expect a mild sun-burn like sensation or redness which usually is rare but can last for about 30 minutes, though for some this feeling may last a little longer.
Some of the blemishes may appear redder. They will then fade after 2-3 weeks. A reduction in the number of lesions and the prevention of new lesion formation can be expected following your treatment course.
A series of treatments at 2-3 weeks apart is recommended for best results and maintenance treatments may be needed from time to time. Please advise us if you are currently or have been recently taking medication for acne as some medications can make your skin more photo sensitive.
